Dr. Pei-San Tsai is a Professor in the Department of Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado Boulder, USA. She received her B.S. degree from Texas A&M University, and both M.A and Ph.D. degrees in Zoology from the University of California, Berkeley. Her postdoctoral training in reproductive neuroendocrinology was conducted at the University of California, San Francisco and University of California, Los Angeles. She joined the faculty at the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1999 and rose through the ranks to serve as the department chair from 2014-2017. She currently serves as the unit Associate Chair for Faculty Affairs.
Dr. Tsai is a reproductive endocrinologist interested in the neuroendocrine control of reproduction and the evolution of reproductive neurohormones. Her current research program examines: (1) the plasticity of the postnatal GnRH system and the etiology of congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, and (2) the evolution of the GnRH superfamily. Dr. Tsai was a recipient of the NSF CAREER award, NIH Director’s Award, and the Endocrine Society Research Award. Her research has been supported by multiple NSF and NIH grants. She is currently a standing member of an NIH study section, an associate editor of Frontiers in Endocrinology, and serves on the editorial boards of three peer-review journals.
