Dr. Chun Peng is a professor in the Department of Biology, York University and a Tier 1 York Research Chair in Women’s Reproductive Health. She received her BSc and MSc degrees from Sun Yat-sen University, China and her PhD degree from University of Alberta, Canada in 1993. After completing her postdoctoral training at University of British Columbia, Canada, Dr. Peng joined York University and began her independent research career in 1995.
Research in Dr. Peng’s lab focuses on how signaling molecules control female reproduction and how dysregulation of this process is associated with diseases. Her lab uses a variety tools to investigate how growth factors, hormones, and microRNAs regulate placental development and how their dysregulation contribute to the pathogenesis of preeclampsia. In addition, her lab studies the molecular mechanisms underlying the development of ovarian cancer. She has published close to 100 papers and 10 book chapters, editorials, and conference proceedings
Dr. Peng has served as a panel member for Canadian Institute of Health (CIHR) and the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC). She is currently an associate editor for two peer-reviewed international journals, Frontier Endocrinology and Journal of Ovarian Research. Dr. Peng has received many awards, including Women’s Faculty Award from NSERC, Premier’s Research Excellence Award from Ontario Ministry of Energy, Science & Technology, mid-career award from CIHR/Ontario Women’s Health Council, and Chinese Canadian Legend Award from Asian Business Association.
