Professor Haifei Shi received her MD from Beijing Medical University China in 1997, PhD in Neuroscience from Georgia State University in 2004, and postdoctoral fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of Cincinnati. She has been a professor at Miami University Ohio since 2009. Dr. Shi has trained many graduate and undergraduate students. She teaches Human Physiology and Endocrinology courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels at Miami University.
Professor Shi is recognized for her research program in hormonal regulation of energy balance and related diseases. She has received several research grants from the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association, and several awards from the Endocrine Society and from Miami University. Dr. Shi has published over 30 research papers, reviews, and book chapters on the endocrine regulation of energy balance and related diseases in animal and cell models.
Professor Shi has served as a guest editor for the International Journal of Endocrinology and Physiology and Behavior; a reviewer for many academic journals as well as federal and private grant agencies; a referee reviewing abstracts, posters, and travel awards for a few professional societies; an organizer of various conference symposia; and an officer for Ohio Miami Valley chapter for the Society of Neuroscience and is the president-elect for the chapter in 2018.
