Dr. Yonghua Sun is a Professor of the State Key Laboratory of Freshwater Ecology and Biotechnology and the Director of China Zebrafish Resource Center at Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB/CAS). He serves as the Deputy Director-General and Secretary-General of the China Zebrafish Society. Dr. Sun received his BSc from Wuhan University in 1997 and PhD from the Graduate School, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2002. He was a FFCSA (Franco-Chinese Foundation for Science and Its Applications) fellow at IGBMC, CNRS/INSERM, Strasbourg, France from 2005-2008. He received the 2010 Lu Jiaxi Young Talent Prize from CAS, the 2016 Outstanding Member Award of Youth Innovation Promotion Association from CAS, and the 2016 Science and Technology Award for Chinese Fisheries Youth from the Chinese Fisheries Society. In 2012, he won the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars. He has published more than 80 research articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Nature Communications, Cell Research, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Biology of Reproduction and etc. His research interests focus on the study of molecular mechanism underlying vertebrate early development by using zebrafish model, and fish directional breeding by utilizing a combination of genetic manipulation and cellular manipulation techniques. Besides, Dr. Sun is the director of China Zebrafish Resource Center, which has been recognized as one of the three major resource centers in the global zebrafish community.
